Prof. Vivek Agarwal

Prof. Vivek Agarwal received the Bachelor`s degree in physics from St. Stephen`s College, Delhi University, Delhi, India, the integrated Master`s degree in electrical engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, and the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Victoria, BC, Canada. After a brief stint with Statpower Technologies, Burnaby, Canada as a Research Engineer during 1994-1995, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India, where he is currently a Professor. His main research areas are power electronics, renewable energy and electronic systems. He works on the modeling, design and development of new power converter conīŦgurations, intelligent and hybrid control of power electronic systems, power quality issues, electromagnetic interference (EMI)/electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) issues, and conditioning of energy from renewable energy sources and their interfaces for stand alone and grid connected applications. He has also been involved with the research and development of electronic systems for biomedical, space and defense applications. Dr. Agarwal is an Associate Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTION ON POWER ELECTRONICS, an Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTION ON SMART GRID, a Research Ambassador of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), a fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, a fellow of IETE, and a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education.
Vivek Agarwal is a Co-investigator in the STAPP project. As a part of STAPP, he is looking into the various aspects of maximization of power from PV sources with emphasis on partially shading conditions.
